Relax In The Process

Though many have no problem starting a project, it can become much more difficult as you get further along into the manuscript. For me, this is my first project I’ve written out an outline. This has made the process much easier. Though I have had some obstacles, which I wrote about earlier today, the outline is very helpful. With the outline, it keeps me focused and on task. While I’ve found that I have needed to add additional chapters to keep flow of the ideas, I don’t mind this at all. It will of course take longer to finish the book but will prove to be more interesting in the end with an easier to follow story line.

I’ve found that relaxing in the process is the best way to keep moving forward. Realizing some days will be better than others, helps to prevent the author from giving up. It’s OK to take a day off, or even a week off. My original reason for taking time off on this project was because I had become obsessed with my project, so much so that I was even dreaming about where the story could go. Though this is helpful in the progress of the story line, when it begins to interfere with your daily life , it’s time to take a break.

Finding your grove is a must. What helps you write? This is something you need to discover. Do you work better in a quiet space? Maybe you need more noise, making it easier to come up with ideas. I prefer listening to music. NO it does not connect to what I’m writing, it calms my mind and makes writing easier. When I’m stuck, I binge watch a few horror movies. Knowing that unless I have a contract for future works, I have no time restraint to finish the project I’m working on. If it takes 3 months to finish, great! If it takes 2 years, that’s wonderful as well. As long as you finish what you start, you are ahead of the game.
